Bay Law Partners With the Gibson McGath Foundation to Provide a Hands-On Learning Experience for High School Seniors
At a press conference on February 20th in Henderson, Bay Law announced a new program in partnership with the Gibson McGath Foundation at a brunch at Jag Development. The press conference included speakers from the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Gibson, the CEO of Jag Development and co-founder of the Gibson McGath Foundation, Lake Mead Christian Academy high school senior, Luke Ritchie, and Deniz Bayramoglu from Bay Law Attorneys, among other community leaders local professionals, and teachers involved in the new project.
The press conference announced the Bay Law Shop Class, a hands-on learning experience for high school seniors considering a trade career in building, construction, plumbing, or electrical work.
What Is the Bay Law Shop Class?
The Bay Law Shop Class provides an exciting learning opportunity for high school seniors interested in pursuing a critical trade. The program allows Lake Mead Christian Academy high school seniors to fully construct a tiny house each year during shop class throughout the school year. The Bay Law Shop Class not only empowers high school seniors with a practical introduction to the building trade—an industry suffering from a shortage of skilled labor—it also donates a tiny home to a local veteran every year on Veteran’s Day.
The new program addresses the current shortage of workers in essential trade fields, such as construction and plumbing, as well as homelessness and the lack of affordable housing for American veterans. Both issues have been reported as a “dual challenge” facing Southern Nevada.
The First Tiny House Is On Display at Jag Development In Henderson
The Bay Law shop class also serves as a means of connecting local construction companies and others in the trade industry with high school seniors who may choose to pursue this valuable career option after graduation.
Bay Law’s Deniz Bayramoglu shares the law firm’s vision for the future, in which the program grows from producing a single tiny home each year to building many tiny homes to form a new community within Henderson. This community will serve as a welcoming environment for veterans to have access to critical services while upholding their right to individuality and human dignity.
Bay Law invites the Henderson community to help with the new initiative by donating resources, providing the necessary tools to expand the program, or sponsoring a new tiny home for a veteran.
The legal advocates at Bay Law Injury Attorneys have long believed in the strength and resilience of the Henderson community and continue to dedicate time, attention, and resources to improving Henderson neighborhoods, schools, and the veterans who make it all possible.
